Why Remove a Stump?

There are several reasons homeowners and property managers have us remove stumps. Some are aesthetic or pragmatic, and others relate to maintaining the health of the nearby trees.

  • Aesthetics — One of the leading reasons our clients have us remove stumps is to get rid of something they consider ugly.

  • Improved land use — Removing a stump opens up the area for other landscaping and usage options. It's hard to play football or baseball in a yard with a big stump in the middle of it!

  • Land development — With the stump out of way, you can use the space for a gazebo, patio, garage, or other new construction.

  • Invasive or resilient species removal — Certain species of trees will continue to sprout if the stump is not removed. Willows, cottonwoods, Siberian elms, Russian olives, and black locusts are all common trees in the Boise area that will grow back if you do not have the stump removed.

  • Insect control — Stumps can harbor a variety of insects, including termites and carpenter ants. If you have a stump near your home or business, removing it can help keep these pests away from your building.

Working Carefully to Protect Your Property

When you have us remove a stump from your property, one of our first steps is having a utility service mark the locations of the underground utilities. The utility service won't mark your irrigation system, so please be sure to read the stump grinding disclaimer that we'll provide.

In most cases, full removal only requires us to grind down about eight inches. The taproot on most trees is not as deep as people commonly believe. If you plan to plant a new tree in the same spot, we can go down to 14 inches to ensure that your new tree has plenty of room.

Kevin is an amazing "tree guy" (arborist)! He has worked on many of my trees and removed many as well for my properties. He is cheaper than all the competition and extremely knowledgeable. He has a passion for what he does and is very safe and clean. I highly recommend Eden Tree Works and will continue to use them for all of my treescaping.
